Round Rock, TX – A Juneteenth celebration turned tragic Saturday night when a shooting left two people dead and several others injured at Old Settlers Park.
According to Round Rock Police Chief Allen Banks, the incident began around 10:50 p.m. during an altercation between two groups at the event. Shots were fired, resulting in the deaths of two individuals who were not part of the initial altercation. Several bystanders sustained injuries and were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Chief Banks commended the swift actions of the police officers and members of the Round Rock Fire Department, who rendered immediate medical aid to the victims. “I’d like to thank the police officers and the Fire Department for their quick actions,” he said. “I have no doubt that their quick actions in rendering aid to the victims saved lives.”
The individuals involved in the altercation fled the scene immediately after the shooting. Police are actively searching for suspects and urge anyone with information to contact the Round Rock Police Department at 512-218-5500.
Chief Banks also expressed his condolences to the victims’ families and thanked the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, the FBI, and EMS responders for their support during the initial response. The investigation remains ongoing.
