Los Angeles, California – Temperatures across Southern California are set to soar this weekend, with parts of the Antelope Valley expected to reach near 100 degrees by Sunday, creating dangerous heat conditions for outdoor activity.

According to the National Weather Service in Los Angeles/Oxnard, the warm-up begins Thursday and peaks on Sunday, June 15, with highs of 99°F forecast for Palmdale and Woodland Hills. Paso Robles will also approach the mid-90s, while coastal cities like Oxnard and Santa Barbara remain cooler, hovering in the 70s.

Santa Clarita, San Luis Obispo, and other inland valleys are forecast to see afternoon highs in the mid-to-upper 90s, especially Saturday and Sunday. The extended period of elevated temperatures increases the risk of heat-related illnesses, especially for those without access to air conditioning.

Health officials urge residents to limit strenuous outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours, stay hydrated, wear light clothing, and check on vulnerable neighbors. Shade and frequent breaks are essential if being outside is unavoidable.

The heatwave is expected to ease slightly by Monday, but NWS officials caution that more advisories could follow if temperatures remain high into next week.
