Memphis, Tenn. – Scattered rain showers and muggy heat will blanket much of West Tennessee today, with highs reaching 90°F in Memphis and rain chances climbing as high as 100% in parts of the western Delta.
According to the National Weather Service in Memphis, areas west of the Mississippi River—including parts of eastern Arkansas—face the strongest chance of rain, with precipitation likely continuing into the evening. Meanwhile, metro Memphis and surrounding cities like Forrest City and Clarksdale could see spotty showers and rising humidity levels through late afternoon.
Today’s highs will hover in the mid to upper 80s for most of the region, with Corning and Clarksdale hitting 89°F to 91°F. Jackson, Bolivar, and Tupelo are expected to stay closer to 85°F to 86°F, though wet conditions may briefly cool afternoon temps. Motorists should allow extra travel time on I-40 and I-22 due to possible slick roads.
Looking ahead, July 4th will bring intense summer heat with highs in the low to mid-90s and only a 20–25% chance of isolated thunderstorms during the afternoon and evening—typical for Tennessee’s holiday weather pattern. Stay hydrated, limit midday outdoor activity, and monitor local updates if fireworks plans are in play.
⚠️ Rain chances drop Sunday, but heat builds into midweek. Another round of scattered storms is possible by late Thursday.
