Cleveland, Ohio – Residents across Northeast Ohio and inland Northwest Pennsylvania should brace for strong, potentially damaging winds as severe thunderstorms move through the region Thursday afternoon into evening.

According to the National Weather Service Cleveland, a marginal risk for severe weather is in place, with damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph expected in the strongest storms. The alert covers communities from Cleveland, Akron, and Youngstown, Ohio, eastward into Erie, Meadville, and Bradford, Pennsylvania. The main threat is locally damaging winds, but periods of brief, heavy rain are also possible.

Travelers on I-90, I-76, and I-80, as well as those living in rural counties, should secure outdoor items, remain weather-aware, and prepare for possible brief power outages. Utility crews across the region are monitoring the threat and may respond to downed lines or debris. Commuters are urged to check the latest forecast before heading out and enable audible weather alerts on their devices.

Thursday’s storms could be the strongest the region has seen since early June, though widespread severe weather is not expected. The highest risk window is from mid-afternoon through Thursday evening.

Warnings remain in effect until Thursday night, with updates possible if conditions change.
