Jonesborough, TN – A Washington County drug investigation led to the arrest of a 64-year-old man near Indian Trail Middle School, resulting in multiple felony and misdemeanor charges, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

According to Sheriff Keith Sexton, deputies with the Sheriff’s Strike Team arrested Bobby Gale Phillips Jr. on Friday, December 27, following a series of controlled purchases of methamphetamine and cocaine conducted at his residence on Roan Street.

Authorities said deputies observed Phillips driving along Lambeth Drive on December 27 and attempted a traffic stop. Phillips allegedly fled briefly before pulling into the driveway of his residence, where he exited the vehicle and was taken into custody after a short foot pursuit.

During the investigation, deputies reported seizing multiple narcotics, including approximately 23 grams of methamphetamine, 12 grams of cocaine, 12 Gabapentin pills, 25 Oxycodone pills, and three Morphine pills. Investigators also recovered drug paraphernalia, including needles, pipes, baggies, and spoons, which officials said were consistent with the resale of narcotics.

Phillips was charged with two counts of manufacturing, delivery, sale, or possession of methamphetamine, two counts of knowingly maintaining a dwelling for drug activity, and three counts of Schedule II drug violations within a drug-free school zone. Additional charges include drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest, evading arrest, driving while suspended, driving while in possession of methamphetamine, and violation of probation.

Officials noted that Phillips lives next to Indian Trail Middle School, placing the alleged offenses within a Tennessee-designated drug-free school zone.

Phillips was transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where he is being held without bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on Sunday, December 29.
