Jonesborough, TN – Two Washington County residents wanted on serious child abuse charges were arrested this week after an anonymous tip helped deputies locate them in Gray.
According to Sheriff Keith Sexton, Harry James Reed II, 26, and Alexis D. Austin, 22, both of Johnson City, were taken into custody on October 7. The couple had been indicted in January 2025 by a Grand Jury for Aggravated Child Abuse and Neglect of a Child Under 8, along with multiple counts of Aggravated Child Endangerment and Child Endangerment.
The indictments stemmed from a Washington County Sheriff’s Office investigation launched in late 2024. Authorities said repeated attempts were made to locate the pair before a Tip 411 app submission led deputies to their whereabouts.
Both Reed and Austin were transported to the Washington County Detention Center. Austin’s bond was set at $50,000, while Reed faces additional warrants for Failure to Appear and Violation of Probation, bringing his total bond to $75,000.
According to WCSO, both suspects are expected to appear in Criminal Court next term.
