Joliet, IL – A Chicago man is facing multiple charges after a string of burglaries in Joliet on November 13. Alejandro Lopez, 22, was charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle, burglary, and criminal damage to property, Joliet police reported.
According to authorities, the incidents involved three locations: a BMW break-in at a parking deck on East Clinton Street, a burglary at Niko’s Pizzeria on Ohio Street, and a break-in at a BP Gas Station on Plainfield Road. Surveillance video revealed the suspects used a stolen Infiniti Q50 in each case.
The vehicle, taken from a Clarendon Hills dealership, was later recovered in Chicago. Joliet detectives, collaborating with other law enforcement agencies, identified Lopez as a suspect. Prospect Heights police arrested Lopez on unrelated charges the same day.
Detectives served an arrest warrant to Lopez on December 10 at the Cook County Department of Corrections, where he remains in custody.
Authorities credited teamwork among agencies for resolving the case.
