Joliet, IL – A woman was shot in the leg on Saturday morning in the 400 block of South Joliet Street. The 39-year-old victim received medical attention from Joliet Fire Department paramedics before being transported to Ascension St. Joseph Medical Center. Her injuries are considered non-life-threatening.
According to police, the woman’s 34-year-old ex-boyfriend allegedly fired multiple shots from his vehicle, striking her once. Officers later located the suspect’s vehicle near his residence in the 800 block of Julia Avenue and established a perimeter. The suspect was eventually found in an acquaintance’s apartment in Braidwood and taken into custody without incident.
The suspect’s identity has not been released as formal charges are pending. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Joliet Police Department or Will County Crime Stoppers.
