Joliet, IL – Thieves Steal Catalytic Converters from School Buses, Prompting E-Learning Day

Joliet, IL – Authorities are investigating the theft of catalytic converters from multiple school buses at the Troy School District Transportation Lot, forcing the district to shift to an e-learning day.

According to the Joliet Police Department, officers responded early Monday to the lot at 5800 Theodore Street after reports of the thefts. Investigators determined that converters had been removed from 30 school district buses between 2:00 a.m. and 3:00 a.m. The suspect vehicle is described as a dark-colored SUV, last seen near Riviera Boulevard and Leonard Drive shortly after 3:00 a.m. Surveillance footage captured an image of the vehicle.

The Joliet Police Department and the Tri County Auto Theft Task Force are actively working with Troy 30-C School District officials to gather information and identify those responsible.
