Mount Holly, NJ – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Mount Holly has extended Wind Advisories through this afternoon for much of the New Jersey coastline, with gusts up to 45 mph expected before winds taper off by evening.
According to the NWS, the advisory remains in effect until 3 p.m. for Atlantic and Coastal Atlantic Counties and until 5 p.m. for Monmouth, Ocean, and Southeastern Burlington Counties. Affected areas include Atlantic City, Freehold, Sandy Hook, Long Beach Island, and Wharton State Forest.
Forecasters warn that southeast winds of 20 to 30 mph will continue to blow through the afternoon, potentially knocking down small tree limbs and causing isolated power outages. Loose outdoor decorations and lightweight objects could also be blown around.
Drivers—particularly those in high-profile vehicles—should use caution when traveling along coastal roadways and bridges, where crosswinds may be strongest.
Conditions are expected to improve by early evening as the low-pressure system moves offshore, allowing winds to gradually subside overnight.
