Jefferson Township, Ohio – A man is in custody after allegedly firing more than 10 rounds into a residential neighborhood, striking a home and multiple vehicles.

According to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, the shooting occurred April 3 in the 300 block of Colgate Avenue. Deputies responded to reports of shots fired into a habitation, where one residence and three vehicles were hit by gunfire. No injuries were reported.

Investigators determined the shooting allegedly stemmed from a personal dispute between a resident and Raashaun Brown. Authorities said the situation escalated following a workplace-related incident that resulted in Brown losing his job on April 2. Brown allegedly sent threatening messages and images of a firearm leading up to the shooting.

On April 10, Brown was taken into custody by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service. Charges approved by the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office include improper discharge of a firearm upon a roadway, shooting into a habitation, vandalism, and improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle.

Detectives with the Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Unit also executed a search warrant at a residence connected to Brown, where a handgun and ammunition were recovered.

The incident prompted a significant law enforcement response and raised safety concerns for residents in the normally quiet neighborhood. Authorities have not released additional details about a potential court appearance.

The case remains under investigation. The incident may be especially relevant for local commuters and students in the area due to its proximity to residential streets and daily travel routes.
