Louisville, KY – Kentucky State Police Post 4 (Elizabethtown) is increasing traffic enforcement efforts across Jefferson County this week as part of a proactive approach to promote roadway safety.

According to the agency, troopers from Post 4 conducted a one-day enforcement operation on November 19, resulting in 63 traffic stops, 27 speeding citations, seven seat belt citations, six move-over violations, and 14 courtesy notices. Troopers issued 177 total charges, including multiple drug-related offenses and arrests for individuals with outstanding warrants.

One driver was also arrested for possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and for receiving a stolen firearm reportedly taken from the Louisville Metro area. Enforcement teams were positioned along major routes including I-264 (Watterson Expressway), I-265 (Gene Snyder Freeway), and I-65.

Post 4 Captain Jeremy Smith said troopers will continue increased operations in the Louisville Metro region to reduce crashes and promote safer driving. “Every citation we write, every courtesy notice we issue—those actions matter,” Smith said. “Our efforts during these operations can prevent a tragedy before it happens.”

KSP Post 4 serves Breckinridge, Bullitt, Grayson, Hardin, Jefferson, Larue, Meade, and Nelson counties.
