Louisville, KY – Nearly two decades after a sexual assault in Louisville, justice has been delivered. On Sept. 11, 2025, George Wayne Aldridge was convicted of first-degree rape in Jefferson County Circuit Court, according to the Kentucky State Police.
Aldridge, of Anderson County, was sentenced to 15 years in prison. He must serve at least 85 percent of the sentence before he becomes eligible for parole. Court officials also confirmed he will be required to register as a lifetime offender on the Kentucky sex offender registry.
According to investigators, the case was solved through the Sexual Assault Kit Initiative (SAKI), a program funded by the U.S. Department of Justice. Evidence collected in 2005 was tested using modern DNA technology, which identified Aldridge as a suspect. Detectives with the Lexington Police Department, the Kentucky Office of the Attorney General, and the Justice and Public Safety Cabinet collaborated to bring the case forward.
“This case highlights the ability to incorporate a multidisciplinary approach that achieves results never thought of until now,” said Detective Ben Wolcott, lead investigator with the SAKI team. “This victim deserved our best efforts and we delivered. Justice delayed is still justice served.”
The conviction follows an earlier indictment of Aldridge in Fayette County for three separate sexual assaults. Officials said the SAKI program continues to help agencies across Kentucky reduce the backlog of untested sexual assault kits, bringing closure to victims who have waited years for answers.
