Jefferson County, AL – A major joint law enforcement effort across Jefferson County resulted in more than 50 arrests and multiple drug seizures Thursday during a coordinated operation known as “Operation Alliance Shield.”

According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, the October 16, 2025, operation was conducted in partnership with several local and federal agencies, including the FBI and multiple area police departments. The goal: reduce crime, boost law enforcement visibility, and strengthen inter-agency collaboration in northern and eastern parts of the county.

Sheriff Mark Pettway said the initiative demonstrates a shared commitment to community safety. “Ensuring the safety of the citizens of Jefferson County remains my top priority,” Pettway said. “We will continue working to enhance the quality of life for everyone in our community.”

The coordinated effort resulted in 53 arrests, 181 community contacts, 27 traffic checkpoints, and 207 citations issued. Authorities also verified 79 registered sex offenders and conducted 16 business checks.

During the enforcement phase, officers seized six firearms, executed one search warrant, and conducted 12 knock-and-talk investigations. Seized narcotics included 93 grams of methamphetamine, 78 grams of cocaine, and 35.5 grams of fentanyl, among other substances.
