According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 12:24 a.m. Sunday, October 19, to the 7900 block of Highway 75 North in Pinson after reports of multiple people being shot.

Deputies discovered three victims—two 18-year-old males and an 18-year-old female—suffering from gunshot wounds. A fourth victim, a 20-year-old woman, was later taken to a hospital by private vehicle. Emergency crews from Palmerdale, Center Point, and Trussville fire departments assisted at the scene.

Investigators say the shooting stemmed from a verbal and physical altercation that turned violent.

The suspect, identified as Steven Tyler Whitehead, 27, was initially charged with three counts of attempted murder, each carrying a $60,000 bond. On Wednesday, October 22, 2025, deputies added a murder charge, and Whitehead remains in custody at the Jefferson County Jail without bond.
