Jasper County, MO – Deputies are searching for a man after an early-morning vehicle pursuit that began in Jasper County and ended when officers lost sight of the suspect after crossing into Barton County.

According to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 4:05 a.m. Wednesday to a report of a suspicious vehicle near 43-year-old Cody Vinson. When deputies made contact, Vinson allegedly refused to exit his vehicle. A deputy then fired a shot into the driver-side window of the truck, authorities said.

Investigators say Vinson fled the scene in his vehicle and led deputies toward the city of Jasper, continuing into Barton County. The pursuit was later terminated after deputies lost visual contact with the vehicle.

As a result of the incident, the sheriff’s office said charges have been submitted to the Jasper County Prosecuting Attorney for felony resisting arrest (Valentine’s Law) and driving while revoked. Authorities also report Vinson has active warrants for violating an order of protection and for a probation violation. The original charge connected to the probation case includes attempted escape from custody and damage to jail property.

Officials describe the suspect vehicle as a black Dodge Ram pickup, believed to be from the late 2000s, with a broken driver-side window.

Law enforcement is urging the public not to approach Vinson if he is seen. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to contact local law enforcement immediately.
