Carthage, MO – A North Dakota man was arrested Friday morning in Jasper County after deputies investigating a suspicious vehicle uncovered an alleged theft and drug situation involving a stolen four-wheeler.

According to the Jasper County Sheriffโ€™s Office, deputies were dispatched around 9:00 a.m. Friday to County Road 220 and Baseline Road after a resident reported an unfamiliar vehicle parked behind a home overnight. The caller told authorities the vehicle was not occupied and did not belong to anyone at the residence.

While searching the area, deputies were alerted to an in-progress theft about a mile south near County Road 230 and Pine Road. Authorities say upon arrival, a suspect allegedly abandoned a four-wheeler and was found standing behind a nearby residence.

Deputies identified the individual as Zachery G. Greeson, 28, of Fargo, North Dakota, who was allegedly not wearing pants at the time of contact. He was taken into custody without incident.

During a consent search, deputies reported finding approximately 225 grams of powder cocaine and a similar amount of ketamine in Greesonโ€™s backpack. Investigators say Greeson allegedly told deputies he was traveling from North Dakota to Alabama when he became concerned about a possible air strike, prompting him to leave the highway and hide his vehicle behind a residence.

He allegedly stated he ran through wooded areas overnight, during which his pants became caught on barbed wire and were torn off.

Greeson has been charged with alleged possession and trafficking of a controlled substance, burglary for reportedly entering a barn to take the four-wheeler, and first-degree trespassing. He is currently being held at the Jasper County Jail as charges are reviewed by the Jasper County Prosecutorโ€™s Office.
