DeMotte, IN – The Jasper County Commissioners, in coordination with the County Fire Chiefs, have extended the countywide burn ban through Friday, October 17, 2025, according to the Keener Township Volunteer Fire Department.
Officials say the ban remains necessary due to extremely dry weather conditions that increase the risk of brush and grass fires. Residents are urged to refrain from all outdoor burning, including yard debris and open fire pits, until conditions improve.
The ban will be revisited at the end of the week, depending on rainfall and updated fire danger assessments. Fire departments across Jasper County continue to respond to increased calls related to outdoor burns and warn that violating the burn ban could result in fines or enforcement action.
Authorities remind residents to properly dispose of yard waste through local collection services and to avoid using fireworks or equipment that could spark fires.
For updates, residents can follow local fire department pages or check with Jasper County Emergency Management for the latest burn restrictions and weather advisories.
