Jacksonville Weather: Thunderstorms Threaten Saturday Afternoon Through Monday

Jacksonville, Fla. – A stretch of sunny, warm weather will give way to stormier conditions by Saturday afternoon, with thunderstorms possible through early next week. Afternoon highs will stay in the mid to upper 80s, but gusty winds and scattered downpours could create hazards for outdoor plans.

According to the National Weather Service in Jacksonville, storms may first develop Saturday after 2 p.m., bringing brief heavy rain and gusts over 20 mph. The chance of storms lingers into Saturday night before redeveloping on Sunday afternoon. Breezy conditions are also expected, especially along the St. Johns River and coastal areas.

Local impacts include the potential for slick roads on Interstates 95 and 10, as well as minor flight delays at Jacksonville International Airport if thunderstorms coincide with peak travel times. Residents are urged to keep devices charged and limit outdoor activities during lightning periods.

The unsettled weather continues into Monday with a 40 percent chance of storms before tapering off slightly by Tuesday. Sunshine returns midweek with temperatures climbing back near 90 degrees.
