Jacksonville, FL – A surge of dry Arctic air is delivering the coldest morning of the season across north Florida, the Big Bend, southeast Georgia, and the SC Lowcountry, with a second round of freeze/frost late tonight into Wednesday, per National Weather Service offices in Jacksonville, Tallahassee, Tampa Bay/Ruskin, Melbourne, and Charleston.
This morning (Tue, Nov. 11):
- Freeze Warnings: Big Bend/Panhandle and interior Nature Coast (Levy, Citrus, Hernando) with lows 21–26°F in the coldest pockets.
- Cold Weather Advisories: Wide swath from Tampa Bay, Orlando metro, Space/Treasure Coasts to NE FL & SE GA, with wind chills 18–26°F.
- SC Lowcountry & SE GA interior (e.g., Bulloch, Effingham, Tattnall; Allendale, Hampton): freeze ongoing; wind chills upper teens–lower 20s.
Late tonight → Wed AM (Nov. 12):
- Freeze Warnings return for Inland Levy and many JAX/TAE zones (numerous inland counties in N FL/SW GA/SE AL): lows 26–29°F.
- Frost Advisories expand along the First Coast (Duval/St. Johns/Flagler) and Inland Volusia–Lake: temps 34–35°F, widespread frost.
Impacts & safety:
- Frost/freezes may kill sensitive vegetation and damage unprotected pipes; black ice is unlikely but bridges/overpasses may be very chilly.
- Protect people, pets, pipes, plants: bring pets in; drip/insulate exposed pipes; cover tender plants or move indoors; use space heaters safely (3-ft clearance, no extension cords).
