Miami, Fla. – Dangerous surf and strong rip currents will pound Florida’s Atlantic coast through Saturday as swells from Hurricane Humberto and Tropical Storm Imelda push into the region. Waves are expected to top 10 feet in Palm Beach waters, creating hazardous conditions for boaters and beachgoers alike.

According to the National Weather Service in Miami, a persistent northeasterly swell will continue to spread across Florida’s east coast, intensifying wave action and causing beach erosion in vulnerable areas. Advisories remain in effect for coastal counties from Jacksonville to Miami.

Palm Beach County is expected to see the most hazardous surf, with lifeguards urging swimmers to stay out of the water due to life-threatening rip currents. Farther south, Miami-Dade and Broward counties are also under heightened risk, with rough surf warnings issued for local beaches.

Boaters should exercise extreme caution, as seas could reach over 10 feet offshore. Officials recommend smaller vessels remain in port until conditions improve.

Hazardous marine and beach conditions are expected to persist through Saturday evening, with the potential for additional advisories if swells remain strong into early next week.
