A wrong-way driver was stopped early Sunday morning on Interstate 72 near Jacksonville before causing serious harm, Illinois State Police reported.
According to authorities, troopers located the vehicle traveling in the wrong direction and positioned their squad cars to block its path. The suspect vehicle collided with the passenger side of a trooper’s squad car, triggering full airbag deployment and causing significant damage. The trooper sustained minor injuries but was not seriously hurt.
The driver was cited for DUI. No other injuries were reported.
