Jacksonville, Florida – Showers and thunderstorms will hammer Jacksonville through early next week as heat index values soar past 100 degrees and rain chances spike to 90%. Residents can expect the highest impacts Saturday through Tuesday, with flooding on streets and disrupted travel likely during afternoon and evening hours.

According to the National Weather Service, a dangerous combination of high temperatures—peaking at 95°F on Saturday with heat index readings near 105°F—and repeated rounds of storms will threaten Duval County and surrounding communities. The risk for heavy rain, frequent lightning, and brief flooding will be greatest after 2 p.m. each day through Tuesday. Gusty winds and ponding on major roads like I-95 and Beach Boulevard could cause slowdowns, especially near downtown Jacksonville and suburban Orange Park.

Showers will persist overnight and into early mornings, keeping roadways slick for the Monday and Tuesday commutes. Power outages remain possible where storms turn severe. The NWS advises residents to limit outdoor activity during peak heat, stay indoors during thunderstorms, and have mobile devices charged in case of outages.

Rain chances and heat impacts will remain elevated through at least Wednesday, with new advisories possible as additional rounds of storms develop.
