Jacksonville, FL – Two back-to-back weather alerts are in effect for Northeast Florida as a cold front moves through the region, bringing fire danger Monday followed by freezing wind chills early Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service in Jacksonville.

A Red Flag Warning is active from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday for the Suwannee Valley and portions of North and Central Florida, including Baker, Nassau, Union, Bradford, and Duval counties. The alert cites northwest winds up to 20 mph, gusts near 30 mph, and humidity as low as 25%, creating conditions where outdoor fires could spread rapidly.

The front will usher in much colder air overnight. A Cold Weather Advisory takes effect from 2 a.m. to 8 a.m. Tuesday for coastal and inland counties from Flagler to St. Johns, including Jacksonville and Saint Augustine. Temperatures are expected to fall into the low 30s, with wind chills near 25°F, raising the risk of hypothermia and frostbite if precautions aren’t taken.

Residents are urged to avoid outdoor burning Monday and bundle up if traveling early Tuesday morning. Officials also remind residents to bring pets indoors and ensure home heating sources are used safely.
