Jacksonville, FL – Northeast Florida residents face weather hazards this week as coastal flooding and rip currents continue through Tuesday evening. The National Weather Service warns travelers and beachgoers to remain alert as both conditions create safety risks.
According to the National Weather Service in Jacksonville, a Coastal Flood Advisory is in effect until 8 p.m. Tuesday, September 16. A High Rip Current Risk is also active through tonight, posing dangerous swimming conditions. Minor flooding may affect roads, parks, and low-lying areas along the coast in Duval, Flagler, and St. Johns counties.
Drivers should avoid barricades and flooded roads. Even shallow water can disable vehicles. Beachgoers should swim only near lifeguards, and anyone caught in a rip current should relax, float, and swim parallel to shore.
Overnight conditions will remain mostly clear with lows near 66°F. Tuesday is expected to be sunny with highs around 86°F. Winds will shift east, increasing the risk of strong surf.
The five-day forecast shows mostly sunny skies midweek, with highs in the upper 80s through Thursday. Friday may bring isolated showers and thunderstorms, with rain chances continuing into Saturday.
This week’s fall weather outlook highlights the importance of planning for both sunny days and hazardous surf. Coastal residents should remain cautious until advisories expire.
