Jackson, MS – The National Weather Service in Jackson warns that isolated severe storms could develop late Monday night into Tuesday, bringing threats of damaging winds, hail, and possible tornadoes across portions of central and western Mississippi.

The greatest concern will be from late Monday night through early Tuesday afternoon, when storms may produce wind gusts strong enough to down trees or power lines, along with hail up to quarter size. Forecasters note that while the tornado threat is low, it cannot be ruled out.

Areas including Vicksburg, Yazoo City, Greenwood, and Jackson are under a Level 1 (Marginal Risk) for severe weather. Residents are urged to have multiple ways to receive warnings, especially overnight, as conditions could deteriorate quickly.

Rain and thunderstorms are expected to taper off Tuesday afternoon as the cold front pushes east. Cooler, drier air will follow for midweek.
