Memphis, Tenn. – Dangerous heat is set to build across West Tennessee this week, with “feels like” temperatures climbing past 100°F and staying there into the weekend. Afternoon highs in the mid-90s, combined with oppressive humidity, could push heat indices as high as 105°F by late week.

According to the National Weather Service in Memphis, the heat will ramp up gradually, with the highest risk for triple-digit heat index values from Thursday through Sunday. By midweek, most of the region, including Jackson, Corinth, and Jonesboro, will see daily chances of 100°F heat index values topping 70%.

Officials urge residents to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activity during peak heating hours, and wear lightweight, light-colored clothing. Vulnerable populations, including children and the elderly, face increased health risks during prolonged exposure. Never leave kids or pets inside parked vehicles, even for a few minutes.

The heat wave will likely persist through Sunday, with little overnight relief as lows stay in the upper 70s. Additional advisories may be issued if heat indices exceed 105°F for multiple days.
