Jackson, Miss. – Relief is on the horizon for Mississippi after another stretch of hot, humid conditions. A cold front moving in this weekend will knock down temperatures by nearly 10 degrees across the state, with highs slipping into the low to mid-80s and overnight lows dipping into the 60s.

According to the National Weather Service in Jackson, the front is expected to arrive Saturday, delivering drier, more comfortable air that will linger through early next week. The shift will be most noticeable overnight, with places like Meridian and Brookhaven expected to see lows in the mid-60s by Sunday morning.

Daytime highs that have consistently pushed into the mid-90s this week will ease. Jackson will drop from 95 on Friday to around 85 Sunday. Greenville and Greenwood will see similar relief, holding in the low 80s into Monday. The cooler pattern will stretch into South Mississippi as well, with Hattiesburg dipping to the upper 80s for daytime highs.

The more pleasant conditions will reduce heat stress, though residents should still stay hydrated during afternoon activities. The lower humidity may also help with outdoor events and travel through the weekend.

Cooler weather is expected to hold through at least midweek, with no major heat surges on the horizon.
