Jackson, Mississippi – Temperatures across central Mississippi will remain near seasonal averages through midweek before a cooler pattern settles in for the latter part of the week and into next weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in Jackson, Tuesday and Wednesday will feature near-normal temperatures for mid-January. In Jackson, daytime highs during this period are expected to range through the upper 40s to mid-50s, with overnight lows generally in the low to mid-30s.

The weather pattern begins to shift Wednesday night, when another cold front moves through the region. While widespread rainfall is not highlighted as a major concern, the frontal passage will usher in cooler air that lingers through the end of the week.

Behind the front, temperatures will trend cooler than normal from Thursday through the weekend. Highs are expected to settle mainly in the 40s to low 50s, with overnight lows dipping into the upper 20s to low 30s, especially in outlying and rural areas. The National Weather Service notes that a deepening upper-level trough will help reinforce the cooler conditions into next weekend.

No winter weather advisories or freeze warnings are currently in effect, but the cooler nights may be noticeable after recent milder afternoons. Residents with sensitive plants or outdoor pets should stay aware as overnight temperatures trend colder later in the week.

The quieter weather pattern means minimal travel impacts are expected, making this a relatively calm stretch aside from the gradual temperature drop. Commuters, students, and outdoor workers may simply need to plan for cooler mornings as the week progresses.
