Jackson, MS – The National Weather Service in Jackson is warning of a light freezing rain threat for northwest Mississippi on Monday morning, which could cause temporary icy conditions on bridges and overpasses around daybreak through mid-morning.

A Limited (Level 1) threat area has been highlighted, mainly affecting counties near Greenville, Clarksdale, and Cleveland. Light freezing rain or drizzle may briefly accumulate, resulting in minor travel impacts.

Motorists are urged to slow down, allow extra travel time, and use steady pressure on brakes if roads become slick. The NWS advises paying particular attention to elevated surfaces, which are the first to freeze during cold, damp conditions.

Temperatures are expected to rise above freezing by late morning, ending any icing threat.
