Jackson, MS – The National Weather Service (NWS) Jackson reports that central and southern Mississippi will see mostly dry weather through the weekend, with only a 15–45% chance of scattered showers on Saturday as a weak cold front moves through the area.
The front will bring slightly cooler temperatures and brief light rain, especially for locations from Greenwood to Brookhaven, before clearing out by late Saturday night. Highs Friday and Saturday will range from the upper 50s to mid-60s, dropping into the 40s overnight as the front passes.
“Most areas will remain dry,” forecasters said. “We’ll see low-end rain chances mainly Saturday afternoon, but conditions look dry again Sunday.”
Behind the front, skies will clear and Sunday should be mostly sunny and cool, setting the stage for a pleasant but crisp finish to the weekend.
The next widespread rain event is not expected until Tuesday of next week, when a stronger system moves in from the west, potentially bringing steady rainfall across much of Mississippi. Early estimates suggest moderate rain totals but no significant flooding concerns at this time.
Drivers are encouraged to stay alert Saturday for slick spots on roads, especially during passing showers. Outdoor events should proceed as planned with only minimal disruption expected.
