JACKSON, Ky. – Mostly dry skies will hold across eastern Kentucky tonight, but rain and thunder chances will steadily build through the upcoming workweek, keeping temperatures cooler than normal for early September.

According to the National Weather Service in Jackson, clear skies tonight will give way to partly cloudy conditions Monday with a 20–35% chance of scattered storms, mainly along and south of the Hal Rogers Parkway. Afternoon highs will climb into the low to mid-80s, while overnight lows dip near 50.

By Tuesday, storm chances increase to 30–50% across the region, with more widespread showers and thunderstorms expected Wednesday and Thursday. Wednesday carries the highest risk, with a 60% likelihood of rain, making for potentially wet commutes and outdoor event delays. Highs will stay cooler, topping out in the low to upper 70s through midweek.

Drivers should remain alert for reduced visibility during heavier downpours, while outdoor plans may need backup options as daily rain chances persist. NWS officials note the unsettled weather pattern could linger through late week.
