Jackson, KY – Rain chances are set to increase across eastern Kentucky tonight as moisture pushes from southwest to northeast ahead of an active end-of-week pattern. The National Weather Service Jackson office says periods of heavier rain—and a few thunderstorms—are likely Friday before a cold front moves through on Saturday.

According to the latest weekend outlook, tonight’s rain chances for the region sit between 20% and 90%, with cloudy skies lingering through Thursday. Highs today will reach the 50–65 degree range, with lows dropping to 48–57 degrees.

Friday will bring the most active weather of the stretch. Widespread showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected, with highs of 62–70 degrees north and up to 77 degrees south. Forecasters note that rainfall could be locally heavy at times, and thunder chances increase through midday and afternoon. Rain probabilities run between 70% and 100%.

By Saturday, a cold front sweeps across the region, keeping scattered showers in the mix—especially in southeast Kentucky. Highs will fall into the 56–66 degree range, and rain chances will hold around 45–55% through much of the day.

Sunday looks noticeably quieter, with highs rising to 57–65 degrees under partly sunny skies. Rain chances drop to 5–10%, but forecasters warn the broader weather pattern is expected to turn active again next week.

Residents are encouraged to monitor updates as the Friday rain threat approaches.
