Jackson, KY – A Frost Advisory has been issued for much of eastern Kentucky as overnight temperatures are expected to dip into the low to mid-30s, according to the National Weather Service in Jackson. The advisory is in effect from 2 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday.
Forecasters warn that sheltered valleys and shaded low-lying areas could briefly fall below freezing, potentially leading to a light freeze in the coldest spots. Temperatures will bottom out between 33 and 36 degrees across most of the region, including London, Pikeville, and Morehead.
Residents are urged to protect sensitive plants and outdoor vegetation, as widespread frost is expected by early morning. Gardeners and farmers should take precautions to minimize damage from the cold snap.
According to the NWS, this is the second frost event of the season, and conditions are expected to moderate later in the weekend as daytime highs rebound into the 50s and 60s.
