Jackson, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky starts the workweek with summer heat, but residents should prepare for unsettled weather as rain chances climb midweek. Highs in the low 90s Monday and Tuesday will give way to storms, followed by a modest cooldown late week.

According to the National Weather Service in Jackson, isolated afternoon showers are possible Tuesday, mainly in southeastern counties. The greatest chance for widespread rain arrives Wednesday, with storms likely across much of the region. Rainfall could make for slick roads during both morning and evening commutes, particularly along the I-75 corridor and throughout the Cumberland Valley.

By Thursday, slightly cooler air spreads across Kentucky, though scattered showers and storms are expected to linger in southeastern areas. Highs will ease into the upper 80s with lows dipping into the upper 60s. Friday brings additional afternoon pop-up storms, again most likely south and east of Jackson.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time on wet roads and avoid low-lying areas prone to flooding during heavier downpours. Outdoor plans midweek may need backup options as showers remain in the forecast through Friday.
