Jackson, Kentucky – A dense fog advisory remains in effect for much of eastern Kentucky this morning, with visibility reduced to a quarter mile or less across the region — including along US-23, KY-15, and key hollows and valleys from Jackson to Pikeville.
According to the National Weather Service in Jackson, the fog is expected to lift by 10 a.m. Sunday, giving way to sunny skies and a dry, quiet pattern through the workweek. The next five days will feature warming afternoons, clear nights, and no measurable rain, with daily highs reaching the mid-80s by Wednesday.
NOAA’s 6–10 day precipitation outlook supports a continuation of below-normal rainfall across southeast Kentucky, keeping soils dry and fire danger gradually rising in forested areas of Breathitt, Knott, Perry, and Letcher counties.
Drivers this morning are urged to slow down, use headlights, and leave extra space. Fog is especially thick in low-lying areas and along river valleys. After that, travel conditions improve quickly and remain excellent all week.
There are no rain chances in the forecast until next weekend.
