Jackson, Wyoming – Residents across western Wyoming should prepare for a sharp temperature drop overnight as a Freeze Warning goes into effect from 1 a.m. to 10 a.m. Sunday. Sub-freezing lows near 28°F are expected across Jackson Hole, Star Valley, and South Lincoln County, with isolated pockets dipping closer to 25°F along rivers and in low-lying areas.
According to the National Weather Service in Riverton, the cold snap could damage late-season crops, flowers, and outdoor plumbing if not protected. Homeowners are urged to cover or bring in sensitive plants, drain irrigation systems, and wrap exposed pipes before nightfall.
Communities including Jackson, Afton, Thayne, and Kemmerer should expect widespread frost by sunrise, marking the region’s first hard freeze of the season. Early-morning drivers may also encounter patchy frost on bridges and shaded roads.
Temperatures are expected to rebound slightly Sunday afternoon, but another cold night is possible heading into early Monday. Residents should continue to take precautions as the growing season comes to an end.
