Jackson County, FL – A routine traffic stop in Jackson County escalated into a multi-agency manhunt Saturday evening after three men fled on foot, resulting in two arrests and one suspect still unaccounted for, according to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the incident unfolded at approximately 7:06 p.m. when troopers attempted a traffic stop. Authorities reported that three Hispanic males fled the vehicle on foot, prompting an immediate request for assistance from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, including K9 units, the Aviation Unit, and drone support.

Officials stated that all three individuals are ICE detainees and face local criminal charges in addition to any federal proceedings.

During the search, the JCSO K9 Tracking Team, working alongside FHP’s drone unit, successfully located and apprehended the first suspect, Luis Gonzalo Sanabria Canas (DOB: 07/05/1990), without incident. A short time later, deputies tracked down and took into custody the second suspect, Sergio Valdemar Quijada Mejia (DOB: 11/14/1994).

Authorities said the third suspect, Angel Isaac Sanabria Canas (DOB: 05/18/2002), was not located and is believed to have fled into a wooded area nearby. The search was suspended later in the evening, but law enforcement remains actively involved in locating the individual.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office confirmed it continues to assist FHP with the ongoing investigation and urges anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the outstanding suspect to contact local authorities immediately.

Additional updates are expected as new information becomes available.
