Jackson County, Florida – A man was arrested Wednesday night after deputies responded to a reported battery and located a suspect with an active felony warrant.

According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrived at the scene and made contact with an individual who had visible bruising on the left side of their face. The individual reported that Michael Howell allegedly struck them and confirmed they wished to pursue charges.

Authorities said Howell fled the area before deputies arrived. The JCSO K-9 tracking team responded and successfully located him.

During the investigation, deputies confirmed Howell had an active felony warrant out of Jackson County. He was taken into custody and transported to the Jackson County Correctional Facility.

In addition to the outstanding warrant, Howell is charged with battery, according to the sheriff’s office.

The incident remained under investigation Wednesday night.
