Jackson County, FL – A routine traffic stop in Jackson County on Friday, January 20, led deputies to uncover a cache of illegal drugs and a stolen firearm, authorities said.

According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, the driver — identified as Oda Myrick — was found to be a convicted felon currently on probation at the time of the stop. Deputies said Myrick became uncooperative and attempted to flee before being taken into custody.

During a search of the vehicle, deputies located a digital scale, two baggies containing methamphetamine, several empty baggies, and a small amount of marijuana. Investigators also found a firearm later confirmed stolen from Holmes County, Florida.

Authorities said the seized drugs weighed approximately 34 grams of methamphetamine and 3 grams of marijuana.

As a result of the stop, Myrick was arrested and charged with trafficking in methamphetamine, possession with intent to distribute, and resisting without violence.

The sheriff’s office commended its deputies for their continued work to “keep narcotics out of our communities and help keep Jackson County safe every day.”
