Jackson, MS – Mississippi residents, especially those commuting on I-55 and I-20, should prepare for patchy fog and scattered showers today. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Jackson forecasts temperatures reaching the upper 80s, with isolated thunderstorms possible in the northern parts of the region. Motorists should drive cautiously as visibility may be reduced during early morning hours, with the risk of slick roads later in the day.

According to the NWS, patchy fog is expected before 8 a.m., gradually clearing as temperatures rise. By midday, scattered showers could emerge, particularly affecting areas along and north of I-20. Winds will shift north-northwest at around 5 mph, creating a humid, warm environment. This pattern will continue through the afternoon, making for potentially uncomfortable outdoor conditions.

The forecast for the week in Jackson brings continued heat, with Monday and Tuesday both expected to reach highs around 88°F. Mostly clear nights will provide some cooling, with lows dropping to the mid-60s. By midweek, southerly winds are set to increase, reaching gusts up to 20 mph by Wednesday, as high temperatures remain in the mid to upper 80s.

Rain chances rise again on Thursday, with a 50% likelihood of showers and thunderstorms, primarily in the afternoon and evening. This change may bring some relief from the warm, dry conditions that have persisted.
