Quad Cities, IA/IL – Morning commuters in eastern Iowa and northwest Illinois should prepare for slick roads as light snow accumulates through 10 a.m. Monday. Accumulations up to an inch are expected, creating potential hazards on key routes like Route 67.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Quad Cities, roadways may see slippery conditions, especially in areas from Manchester, Iowa, to Galesburg, Illinois. Drivers are urged to reduce speeds, allow extra time, and check local traffic updates to avoid delays or accidents.

This morning’s weather marks the beginning of a week filled with significant shifts. By Wednesday evening, a strong cold front will bring gusting winds up to 50 mph and plummeting wind chills. Temperatures are expected to drop to the single digits by Thursday morning, with highs only reaching the low 20s.

The week will remain largely dry after today, with partly sunny skies dominating Tuesday and Wednesday. However, another round of snow showers is possible late Wednesday, mainly affecting areas along the Highway 20 corridor.

Residents should monitor updates as conditions evolve, especially regarding midweek wind chill advisories. Be sure to take precautions against frostbite and hypothermia, as outdoor exposure will become dangerous during the coldest hours.
