According to the National Weather Service, the first round of snow begins in northwest Iowa late Monday morning, spreading south and east throughout the afternoon and evening. This system will bring a dry, fluffy snowfall, with accumulations of 2 to 4 inches expected in the northwest and north-central regions.
A second winter storm is expected early Wednesday, starting in southeastern Iowa before spreading north. This round could bring heavier snowfall, with 4 to 7 inches possible in the southeast. Accumulations will taper off farther north and west.
Officials warn that both storms could lead to hazardous travel conditions, with slick roads impacting commutes. Drivers are urged to slow down and use caution.
