Des Moines, IA – Snowfall continues across southern and southwestern Iowa today, creating slippery roads and hazardous travel conditions. The National Weather Service has extended a Winter Weather Advisory until 6 PM CST Monday for several counties.
According to the National Weather Service in Des Moines, snowfall is accumulating across Adams, Taylor, Ringgold, Decatur, Cass, Union, and Wayne Counties, with 1 to 3 inches expected by the evening. The advisory was expanded northward as snowfall impacted more areas than initially expected.
Motorists should exercise caution, as roadways are snow-covered and conditions could worsen throughout the day, affecting both morning and evening commutes. Reduced visibility and slick roads may lead to delays and potential accidents.
Residents are advised to slow down, allow extra travel time, and check road conditions via the Iowa 511 app, www.511ia.org, or by dialing 511 before heading out.
Snow is expected to taper off by Monday night, with improving conditions into Tuesday.
