Davenport, IA – Frigid temperatures and slick road conditions continue to impact Davenport and surrounding areas as light snow diminishes early Thursday morning. Motorists are urged to exercise caution, especially on untreated roads, as freezing conditions persist into Friday.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), lingering snowfall overnight has left additional accumulations of less than an inch. Winds gusting up to 20 mph may lead to patches of blowing snow and reduced visibility. Drivers should plan for delays, particularly near Interstate 80 and local highways.

Thursday will see mostly sunny skies with a high near 18°F, though wind chills will drop as low as -10°F. Overnight lows are expected to fall to 2°F. Northwest winds will calm slightly in the evening, but icy conditions are expected to remain through the night.

Friday will bring increasing clouds with daytime highs rising to 25°F. Winds from the southwest will pick up, potentially reaching 20 mph. Despite milder conditions during the day, overnight lows will plunge to 19°F, keeping roads frozen.

Looking ahead to the weekend, residents can expect partly sunny skies Saturday with a high near 38°F, followed by colder nights in the teens. Sunday remains chilly, with highs around 29°F under partly sunny skies.

The NWS advises drivers to check local road conditions before traveling and to slow down in areas where slick spots remain. For updates, visit 511ia.org or gettingaroundillinois.com.
