Sunday brings sunshine but little relief. Highs top out near 23 degrees, while northwest winds gust up to 25 mph. By Sunday night, temperatures plunge to around 3 degrees. Wind chills could fall to near -10 degrees at times. That kind of February freeze can refreeze melted snow and slush quickly.
Drivers along I-80 and I-235 should watch for flash freezing on bridges and ramps late Sunday night into early Monday. Even damp pavement can turn slick fast when readings drop into the single digits.
Monday stays cold with a high near 20 degrees before a gradual warming trend begins. Tuesday jumps to around 41 degrees under partly sunny skies. Wednesday holds near 41 again, and Thursday climbs to the lower 40s. By Friday, highs surge toward the mid-50s, signaling a shift toward early spring warmth.
The 6–10 day outlook favors above-normal temperatures, reinforcing the move away from this brief winter vengeance.
