According to the National Weather Service in Des Moines, thunderstorms are likely after 1 p.m. Friday, July 11, with a 70% chance of precipitation. Storms may continue into the evening, bringing up to a half-inch of rainfall in some areas. South-southeast winds between 7 and 9 mph could gust during heavier storms before shifting southwest later in the day.

Localized flash flooding, lightning, and reduced visibility are possible Friday afternoon through night. Residents are urged to delay non-essential travel during peak storm hours and check for real-time updates from Iowa DOT and local emergency services.

Saturday offers a brief reprieve, with only a 20% chance of showers and highs near 82°F. Conditions improve Saturday night, with partly cloudy skies and lows in the mid-60s. Sunday looks clear and warm, with sunny skies and a high near 85°F—ideal for outdoor plans.

Storm chances return early next week, with a 30% chance of showers and storms Tuesday and a 50% chance Tuesday night. Temperatures will remain seasonably warm, topping out near 89°F through Monday before a slight dip Wednesday.
