Davenport, Iowa – Thunderstorms are expected to roll into eastern Iowa Monday afternoon, bringing heavy rain, slick roads, and summer humidity back to the Quad Cities.

According to the National Weather Service, showers and thunderstorms are likely between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Monday, July 21, with the strongest storms developing through mid-afternoon. Residents in Davenport, Bettendorf, and along I-74 should expect reduced visibility and the potential for ponding on roads during the Monday commute.

Temperatures will reach a high near 83°F, with east winds around 5 mph. Rainfall totals between a quarter and half an inch are possible during Monday’s storms. While severe weather is not expected at this time, drivers should reduce speed on wet roadways and remain alert for sudden downpours. Keep mobile devices charged in case of brief outages or alerts.

Skies clear slightly by Monday night, with temperatures dipping to around 71°F under mostly cloudy skies. A warm and sunny pattern returns Tuesday with a high of 88°F, followed by peak summer heat Wednesday as highs climb to 94°F under clear skies.

Looking ahead, this weekend may bring a break from the storms but not the heat. Highs will remain in the upper 80s to near 90°F through Saturday, July 26. Isolated afternoon thunderstorms return Thursday and Friday, potentially disrupting outdoor events and travel.
