According to the National Weather Service in Omaha, a 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms arrives Friday night, increasing to 60% Saturday afternoon. Rainfall totals could exceed an inch in some areas, particularly where storms repeatedly track over the same locations. Localized ponding and lightning risks may affect travel along I-29 and nearby highways during peak return traffic.

Independence Day will bring mostly sunny skies early, with a 20% storm chance after 1 p.m. and a high near 93°F. South winds may gust up to 25 mph, increasing firework safety concerns. Residents are urged to secure outdoor items and monitor conditions if planning gatherings or grilling.

Saturday’s storms are expected to taper off Saturday night, with drier and calmer weather returning Sunday. Highs Sunday will stay near 87°F under mostly sunny skies.
