Davenport, Iowa – Storms building across eastern Iowa could bring heavy rain and dangerous road conditions to the Quad Cities by early Sunday afternoon. Commuters and weekend travelers near I-280 and I-74 should prepare for delays as showers and thunderstorms roll in around 1 p.m.

According to the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities, a Flood Watch remains in effect through 1 p.m. Sunday, with rainfall amounts of up to a half-inch possible during downpours. Gusty winds may accompany stronger storms, especially south of Davenport and into Rock Island County.

Sunday’s high reaches 80°F, but skies stay cloudy with storms likely through evening. Rain chances drop overnight, though scattered showers could linger. By Monday, skies clear slightly, though another round of scattered storms may return by late evening.

Heading into the week, the region sees classic summer heat building back in. Tuesday and Wednesday will both be sunny and hot, with highs hitting 90°F and 95°F respectively, under partly cloudy skies at night.
